All that twitters is not gold

I think the best feeling anyone can expect is knowing somewhere someone is thinking of you. The sense of belonging to someone can be euphoric, I guess.

I was always under the apprehension that I was a loner and probably one of the few people who could survive being an island. I was happy being on my own, making my own decisions and not worry if my snoring would bother anyone. It was fun being cold and alone like the cold Artic or the lonely Australia, minding my own business.

My feelings did not falter until I met her. Funny how we met as well. Of the weirdest of all places - a topic which I am sure would make a nice story over a cuppa.

There were times, ofcourse that I would wish I never did. We would at times argue about the most silliest of things and frown like little kids. But then before the sun came up again the next day, we would realise our follies and just talk again as if nothing ever happend. I finally realised that even Australia needs the company of New Zealand. There was summer in the Artics, finally.

It was a sad moment - there is no doubt about it - when we parted company. The global warming hit the news. The polar caps finally were starting to melt. Despite what everyone thought or said (there were a few characters on the way), it was one of the most beautiful moments in our lives and the thought itself is enough to last a lifetime.

Which brings me back to the title of this post. I know there must be some use for it, but I just fail to see the phenomenon behind Twitter. What purpose would it serve to have people stalking your every thought (expressed within 140 characters or less)? What the bejeegees would it serve to wonder what a perfect stranger is doing right now? Are we so lonely and desperate for fame that we need stalkers in our life now?

The only compelling argument I can see in favour of all the twitters is from the jealous and no-trusting boyfriend / girlfriend. They probably would want to know what his / her better half is doing right now every now and then. I can just see it going:

Girlfriend going to her girlfriend:

"My darling is making tea. No, wait! There is a twitter update. He's just tore up a packet of biscuit to eat with his tea."

But still she would phone the boyfriend up and say, "Darling, hi its me! I just saw your twitter update. What kind of biscuit are you having?"

P.S. By the way I do not mind stalkers and you can stalk me on Twitter at dreamzunlimited (Link).

It's my friend's wedding today... but I am not happy

Hai aaj mere yaar ki shaadi magar... main khush nahin hoon
(It's my friend's wedding today... but I am not happy)

Hai kisike pyaar ki shaadi magar... main khush nahin hoon
(It's a wedding of someone's love today... but I am not happy)

Maine roka usey, toka usey, samjhaya bhi
(I stopped her, forbade her, even tried to convince her)

Deke vaasta apni yaari ka manaya bhi
(Pleaded her as well for the sake of our friendship)

Uski raah ka pathar bana
(I became a stone of her path)

aur kaanta bhi
(and a thorn too)

Phool banke uske saamne murjhaya bhi
(wilted before her as a flower too)

Lekar ke chaldiya hai woh baharein, dahej mein
(but she has moved taking along the blossoms of the spring as her dowry)

Hai gul-e-gulzar ki shaadi magar main khush nahin hoon
(it's the wedding of the flower of the garden, but I am not happy)

Hai aaj mere yaar ki shaadi magar... main khush nahin hoon
(It's my friend's wedding today... but I am not happy)

Hai kisike pyaar ki shaadi magar... main khush nahin hoon

My dil goes mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... (part drei)

My dearest No-longer Girlfriend,

It's 03:01 am out here and while you must in sweet slumber dreaming of your happy future with your new partner I must have read and re-read all the emails that we have exchanged over the past two years.. some nice, long and romantic and some pretty much boring one-liners!

But as I looked back upon those moments and ponder on each word that you had written, on each alphabet - I remember the moments when you and I shared in a spirit of love. The bond of affection far beyond the realms of definitions which was there - alas no longer exists. I stare at all your pictures that slide before me and listen to all the tracks that you have dedicated to me... but all that remains is me all alone. Call it what you may, but this is the irony of life.

Today incidently also happens to be the third anniversary of the My dil goes mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... series of letters, and though you are no longer by my side.. you will always remain in my heart. Bloody hell, you 5'1" girl... somehow you climbed and stole my heart away.... and I'll always Love you for that!

I recall the moments spent with you all the while trying to make sense of what happened and what I could have done to have prevented this day where I am all so lonely and helpless....

I guess you have finally succeeded in weakening the cold heart of mine, making a fool of me and destroying my reasons. You have in one big swoop turned turned my world all topsy-turvy.

Loneliness and the feeling of being unwanted is the most terrible fate that a man can ever face. I was incomplete , miserable and a sorry ass without you. And sadly I am not better today. Such is the circle of life, I guess.

But sad story aside, I am just so glad and feel so blessed that I could share even a few precious moments with you - probably the best time of my life! I know I still may not know how to show how much I love and care for you, but jaan trust me, you are my jaan! I just don't know how I will be able to live without you being in my life anymore. How will my mornings, my afternoons and my nights be without you - just one eclipse after the another...

Not one night passes when I may not have dreamed of us being in each others arms, enjoying those lollies that you so much love, walking hand in hand on long stretches of beaches with your laughter echoing in the air around..

How I dream every night of your smell, of your delicate touch and mischievous looks that you give and that heart stopping smile. It just breaks my heart, literally the smile in me just drowns away even by the thought of losing you. I just can't live without you now - you have become my medicine, my drug. You have become my addiction. And I just cannot break free of you.

My dil goes crazy, in a deep mesmerizing frenzy just thinking of you. I look for the syllables of your name in every word that I read, see your face in every window. I miss you very much with each passing breath.

Words are meaningless without you, jaan. I cannot write what I feel because I cannot find words that would describe those feelings that I am having for you. I cannot describe the unbearable pain that I am feeling right now, thinking that I am not able to kiss those pink soft lips of yours. I cannot describe the agony right now of not being able to knock on your window so that I could sneak you out of your house for a very late long drive.

We are all born for love...it is the principle existence and it's only end. You are my "a" and you shall be my "z", my only true love!

Jaan, I am trying to continue, but my fingers have given up. My eyes have given up. My heart has given up. How I wish to beg you to be with me. Leave everything and be with me. But I know... why do I have to know! Why can't i be selfish and ruthless and snatch away what is mine?

Jaan, I may be one arse of a person. But I promise ya one thing, wherever and whenever you are happy, I am happy as well! No matter when, how or why you ever need me - jaan, day or night (except when I am in the loo) - you give me howler and I'll be at your service.

"You may be out of my sight, but not out of my heart. "You may be out of my reach, but not out of my mind. "I am always Thinking of You."

Now get your sorry and bony arse up and get on with your new life!

mwaaah!

Only yours forever and ever, till death do us apart...

Withdrawl Symptoms

Coming out of a relationship in my opinion is no different than coming out of an addiction. You suffer withdrawal symptoms. The longer the addiction, the painful the withdrawal.

I wish their were patches for relationships like they have nicotine patches for smokers... life would have been lot simpler and the withdrawal less painful.

Ah! The wishes I wish, the dreams I dream.

Sniff.

P.S. I Love You

My dearest darling,

How I wish I could be there sitting right beside you just now. How I wish you’d blow in my ears as you used to and how I wish I could tickle you all up right now. How I wish I could hear your voice right now.

May be wishes are all I have left now. May be this is what I deserve.

I do not if you will ever get the chance to read this, but I really do miss you. I did not understand what missing someone meant until right this very moment in time. I knew this day would eventually come where you would bid me farewell. I tried to prepare myself all this time - to be heartless so that I may never experience the pain. But I just can’t help but feel this pain. Missing you is taking my breath away, and you know what happens to someone who stops breathing...

Each passing moment brings back memories that we shared. Your laughter echoes in the silence. Your face floats in the air. Your smell fragrances the room. Each moment I am missing you more than the previous.

I would have begged on my knees to you to come back but I know no amount of pleading is going to change what has happened between us.

I am glad that I got the chance to know a sweet and dear person like you. I am just grateful for all the happy times we shared together. I promise you that I shall treasure those precious moments for as long this life takes me.

I just wish you the very best in life and all the happiness that life can offer you.

With love,

Only yours...

P.S. I love you and will continue to do.

IDEA # 10 OF 101 ROMANTIC IDEAS

Get a piece of paper and some crayons. Draw a bright childlike picture with a smiley sun and two stick figures holding hands. Add labels with your two names pointing to the stick figures. Write "I Love You" inside a heart.

Next get a large formal envelope. Place your drawing inside and type up a formal address label of your partner's work such as:

For the immediate and urgent attention of:

Natasha Gates
Level 20
Info Systems
Bangalore

Mail it to your partner so she receives it in the middle of a busy day.

IDEA # 06 OF 101 ROMANTIC IDEAS

Take a book that your partner is reading and using a pencil, underline letters in a section of the book she has yet to read to spell out a love letter. For example, in the following exert from a novel, the underlined letters come together to spell out the secret message "I love you"

The palace was a labyrinth, their passage through it tortuous and interminable. Initially they passed from building to building under the sodden sky. Steve's feet ached; he might have laughed at himself, the tireless traveller, grown too soft from his months in the city to walk any proper distance. Abruptly the guards halted.

The underlined letters will make your partner curious and with a bit of luck she will write them down. Spend time to encode a proper message such as "Dear Natasha, I love you, honey"

“LOVE IS…”

What is love?

With the winter approaching at 100 miles per hour, I am sure love is going to be cuddled (for the lucky few) all around and seep into all the small cracks that one can peep into (Oi! Peeping Tom, sambhal ke!), I take this huge step for every Majnu and Romeo (Laila and Juliet, too) who dared to thread - to try and answer the boggling question that has captured the hearts (and imagination) of all men (and women) since the beginning of time (whenever that was): “What is love?”

I must admit that I am no expert in the subject - then again, I don't know who's got the PhD either - so accordingly to yours truly “Love” is (in no specific order):

  • blind.
  • free.
  • full of fear.
  • lawless.
  • getting hit by a bolt of lighting bolt on a clear blue day.
  • without reason.
  • being together.
  • a fool’s paradise.
  • a full cup that must be carried steadily.
  • a cool breeze on a hot summer afternoon.
  • a flea, a fly, and a flitch of bacon.
  • a day after the fair.
  • cherry, merry, plum and dumb.
  • a burning candle in the middle of the hurricane.
  • a cock-and-bull fairy tale.
  • a bad excuse for divorce.
  • a good excuse for marriage.
  • a wonder that lasts nine days.
  • as welcome as flowers in May.
  • stammering every time you open your mouth in front of her.
  • an oasis in a desert.
  • second nature.
  • a banana float with lots and lots of chocolate syrup on it.
  • dates, chocolates and an empty purse.
  • an LSD kick.
  • a sweet pain.
  • stranger than Mills and Boons.
  • fair and sluttish, black and proud, long and lazy, little and loud.
  • fame in a magnifying glass.
  • burning midnight oil and writing love poems.
  • giving Valentines on February 14th.
  • fishing without bait.
  • feeling warm without the fire.
  • wishing hair on a bald head.
  • blushing, hearing her name.
  • a roller coaster ride, from hell and back.
  • hanging, drowning, burning, and bungee jumping – all at the same time.
  • attending extra classes just because she might turn up.
  • taking her out on the prom night.
  • giving her a ride home.
  • walking with her till her front door.
  • getting a good-night kiss on the cheek.
  • looking at the moon and seeing her face.
  • ice skating without the ice.
  • a Judas kiss.
  • a head like a snake, a neck like a drake, a back like a beam, a belly like a bream, a foot like a cat, a tail like a rat.
  • a hair in one’s neck.
  • thinking up novel ways to say “I Love U!”
  • getting hold of flowers, beads, and just about anything and going, “she loves me, she loves me not, she loves me…”
  • writing her name on just about anything, anywhere.
  • trying to join your name and surname with hers and vice-versa.
  • going 10 miles out of the way, just to accidentally meet her on the way.
  • carrying her books.
  • spending hours in the card-shop to find the most perfect card.
  • walking on air.
  • getting drunk without taking the mortal sip.
  • spending hours in front of the mirror to look your best for her.
  • talking to flowers and dogs and goats and…(you get the idea!).
  • a big blow on the purse.
  • going to the movies and holding her hands.
  • sharing the ice-cream cone.
  • talking for hours without saying a single word.
  • the feeling of triumph even while losing.
  • hugging and jumping together on the piles of autumn leaves.
  • never young, never old, and never dead.
  • wishing there were more than 24 hours in a day.
  • a great force hidden in a sweet command.
  • shy.
  • a lost cause.
  • letting your dog sleep with you.
  • hanging in there through thick and thin.
  • wishing she were here with you.
  • trying to bell the cat.
  • to build castle in air.
  • to burn one house to warm another.
  • to call a day night, and a night…lord knows what.
  • promising her the moon and the stars.
  • beyond logic.
  • to comb your hair with a three-legged stool.
  • to cry with one eye and laugh with the other.
  • trying to learn being a gentleman.
  • to say sorry first.
  • to appreciate her mother’s cooking.
  • to die a dog’s death.
  • to dance the Tyburn Jig.
  • to fall to pieces.
  • not found in the market.
  • to break the other guy’s jaw and getting black and blue in the process.
  • never without jealousy.
  • like drinking hot cocoa on a chilly night.
  • like waiting on the other side of the toilet door.
  • dreaming about her.
  • to have a stomach and lack meat; to have meat and lack a stomach; to lie on a bed and can’t rest.
  • to have windmills in one’s head.
  • staring at his/her passport-size photo for hours and hours.
  • watching butterflies hopping from flower to flower.
  • like looking at sleeping babies.
  • to make ropes of sand.
  • to sing Spanish love songs under her balcony in the middle of the night.
  • to make an ass of oneself.
  • learning to mind one’s P’s and Q’s.
  • talking to her on the phone for hours.
  • to play chess when the house is on fire.
  • thinking up ways to break in her room and wish her good-night.
  • buying her balloons.
  • making and watching her smile.
  • buying presents for her next year’s birthday a year before.
  • a ring with no beginning and no end.
  • sweet in the beginning but sour in the end.
  • to rebel.
  • to pack the bags and run away in the middle of the night.
  • more rising than falling.
  • watching autumn leaves fall.
  • a gift much expected, luckily found.
  • something which will make a good eye go squint.
  • something that comes in through the window and goes out the door.
  • something which cannot be compelled.
  • a four letter word which makes every sane person go insane.

I am sure many of you freelance Romeos and Juliets, desi Majnus and Lailas, got few ideas of your own on what this mind-boggling feeling is. If so, share it, 'cos it's just like I keep saying time and again (if you don't know, then pay special attention now) ... thoughts and Cadbury's were meant to be shared.
